Community Brew Part Deux!!
"(Belgian Triple and an IPA recipe combined)"
That sounds intresting. I also have a highly hoped IPA in the fermenter.
With a touch of roasted malt. Haven't done a Belgian yet either.
Would that be a BPA?
IPA = 6
Spring Seasonal = 4
i am plenty willin to participate, i have been thinkin of what i should do for my second batch, i want to do an IPA, not sure yet. this would only be my second batch, and iv only ever used an extract kit (Brewers Best Red Ale), so let me know if you guys are gonna be doin all malt or extract. i will try either.
my vote is for an IPA, but the spring seasonal sounds good.
brewluva, I think you may have counted Marv's vote twice.
This sounds like an interesting proposition. I would go for a Spring Seasonal, but I will go with the majority on this one. I would like to hear how this works. Everyone brews on the same day with different yeast? Just makes thier version and submits their recipe? Just curious.
So far it's taken a couple months for every one to brew this one.
With the holidays and what not it was spread out. I forget when we got it set up, just before Thanksgiving I think, I could be wrong.
I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to set a time line, like do a community
brew once every 3 to 4 months or so,so every one has time to brew before
moving on to the next one.
If you want, you still have time to brew the Stout, we are not going to even start
on a recipe, till late feb. early march.
The stout is really good, you'll be glad you did. It's a brew I'll be doing more of.
I'm a hop head, not a stout guy, but I really like it.
But no there is no set day to brew, those that can brew it on the same day do, I was
a month behind most people, that last guy to say he was going to brew it did so just a week or so ago.
No real time line though.
Thats because I voted twice...![]()
I'm really intrested in hearing more aout this.

I may want to change my vote. Its new, to me any way.
We are after orignal stuff, right?
A Belgian flavor on top of some hops.
Sounds like a winner to me.
Even if it doesn't get the vote, I would still like to know more about it.

We will formulate both a all-grain and extract version
double checked the count so far,
IPA = 6
Spring Seasonal (?Maple Porter?) = 5

Yea, if we end up brewing an IPA and a few people want to try out different yeasts, I'm probably going to go with a nice Belgian yeast. Essentially you are looking for some of those more wild Belgian flavors (ferment it on the warm side) in combination with big American hops. Another way to do it, like Chouffe does with theirs is to basically brew a Belgian Triple, but use a lot more hops, especially in the flavor/aroma department. You end up with a decidedly Belgian beer, but with a fresh hop burst.
I'm up for whatever the community chooses. I can't brew while I'm in the UK anyway, so 2 weeks off there and when I get back the wife has requested the house IPA, which will be brewed immediately. After that I'm brewing a Strawberry Belgian Wit, then if the community brew has been finalized I'll be brewing that.
