east coast yeast

just heard about this company.  I looked them up online, apparently only one store in NJ carries their product so far, as it sounds like it is a one man operation, and he does it after his full time job.  Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them.

they have a yeast strain that is supposed to be the yeast used in Ballantine, but that doesn't mean a whole lot to me since I've never had that beer.  it's supposed to be a clean yeast, kind of like the chico strain.  they have a wee heavy strain which sounds like it would be interesting to try in a Scottish ale, and a bunch of sour blends which seems to be their specialty.  they had a number of different brett strains, and yeast/brett/other souring organisms mixed in together.

Yes, it's a one man operation. The guy who owns it came to give a presentation to my homebrew club. (The owner of Princeton Homebrew, the only shop that sells it, is a club member)  The idea behind the company, I believe, is to provide a fresh source of yeast locally here on the east coast. He's a pretty cool dude, & he does specialize is the funky stuff.

I can't say much on the quality of his products because I've never actually used them.  I've got a product list lying around somewhere, but that's about it.  Trenton is a bit of a hike for me & I haven't brewed anything in awhile anyway.

This stuff looks off the hook, if your looking to bring in the noise, bring in the funk with your belgians.  i've made my fair amount of belgians, and they seem to be to clean I guess is the word.  This stuff looks to be the real deal, I gotta get my hands on some of this.  Looking to have a Lambic ready for this time next year.
