Elderberry wine

I really need convincing on this one.Its the waiting you see. One cant help feeling that its not going to taste any different after a year of maturing. At the moment it tastes like mild flat vinegar. I gave a bottle to my daughter to hide from me for a year. Is it really worth waiting for or does something magical happen in the maturing stage. Its bought Elderberry wine by the way, it was quicker than stripping the trees and robbing the birds of their natural fruit.
Any patient wine brewers to comment.
Dave.

In my limited experience, I've never tasted a batch that matured into a good wine after tasting like your description.

Best of luck, though...

How old is the wine?  If it is tasting like vinegar, I wouldn't have too much hope for it.  Once wine starts down the vinegar path, it is usually too late to save.
