Favorite Base Grains?

Everything in balance, If you're not using a lot of hops you don't necessarily need a ton of maltiness to come through to notice it.  You can also do a lot with the mash to accent maltiness.

 

cmanley, that is the reason why I was asking if you used MO for all your beers.  I was always under the impression that it had a bit of biscuit flavor to it, which made it good for English style beers.  In all honesty, I am not speaking from experience, as I have not used it before, this is just what I have read.  I will have to give it a try.

 

It's an excellent base malt.  Don't get bogged down in this base for english, this base for US, this base for belgian, it contributes more flavor and color, but no reason you can't use that in other styles as well.

 

Well, I don't usually brew anything that is too light anyway, so I don't worry about color too much.  When I run out of 2 row, I will pick up a sack of MO and try it.
