First Lager - Looking for Ideas
Ah too late. Just signed the purchase & sales agreement last week. Hoping to have a MA BKB brewday sometime this summer.
Got my first lager in primary. Pretty simple, and out of style by color, vienna lager.
6 gal. post boil.
5'5 gal. into fermenter.
8 lb. Vienna
2 lb. 2-row
8 oz. Acidulated (for PH adjustmant)
32 gm. US Saaz (5.8%) @ 60
16 gm. US Saaz (5.8%) @ 20
16 gm. US Saaz (5.8%) @ 10
Whirlfloc @ 15 min.
Single infusion mash @ 148 F, 1.5 qt./lb. for 60 min.
No mashout.
Saflager S-23 Rehydrated & stirred for 30 mins.
Pitched @ 53 F
I'm going to be very patient with this one and after a D rest going to secondary for about 3 weeks @ 34 F and then the same temperature in a keg for a couple of months.
Luckily, I have a couple of kegs and a few cases to drink in the mean time ![]()
