growing hops

My  $.02-
To the first question- probably not.  I planted in NW MO (KC area) 12 plants this spring & got 4-5oz of Very low AA hops.  But the plants were very vigorous, got their root structure established.  They were planted in pure horse manure compost, & watered regularly.
Second year is supposed to be much better & the third year we're off & running.
As far as moving, you can dig up the rhizomes, but you'll be starting from scratch, or a little better, when you re-plant.

First year plants might not even flower and the alpha acid content of them is low in the first couple of years. I planted 4 plants this past spring.  2 Cascades, 1 Centenniel and 1 Willamette.  The Cascades flowered but I only yielded .75 oz of dry hops.  I had minimal Centenniel hops and the Willamettes didn't flower at all.  I was just happy they flowered because I've heard stories of first year growers that didn't get anything.  I'm not expecting to get a decent yield and AA% content from these plants until they're 3 years old.  You can dig up the rhizomes if you want to move them and I'd recommend doing it when they're dormant.  If you're interested in growing hops next spring then I'd suggest doing some research online or picking up a book like "The Homebrewer's Garden".
