Hops Burn in Yakima.
A note to everyone...
The hops that went up in the fire here in Yakima Wa. probably won't cause home brewers and most craft brewers any trouble. The varities that were lost are not used by most of us. What was lost are some of the super high alpha stuff that "big" breweries use more of. The cas, wills, tets, etc... are still ok! So BREW ON!
Prost!

You mean like magnum, centennial, warrior, and simcoe? I love those high alphas!
If you are talking about chinook, then let them burn! I do like the magnum and some of the other high alphas quite a bit, though.
Luckily I bought all my hops for the year already. I typically buy from a big hop supplier in late september and leave them in the freezer until I use them.
Do you notice any issues with keeping the hops in the freezer for a while? I have thought about doing the same, as we have big freezer in the garage with plenty of space for me to fill. I have looked into the pricing a bit, and it defintely gets a bit cheaper. Do keep whole hops?
I buy about 3.5 lbs of hops in Sept. and store them in the freezer. I buy mainly whole hops because I like the filter they make when I transfer from the kettle to the fermenter. Hops in the freezer will be good for a year minimum.
Frow what I understand, Zeus, Columbus and some Willamet.
Willamette is a hop big among homebrewers.
Off-topic, but here's my hop freezer of myth and lore.
Had it one kb over the size limit!
