Introduce Yourself
First off they call me Big Country and I started helping my father-in law with his brew about 3 years ago and was going to start brewing my own and then I got hurt in a atv wreck and almost lost my life and to make a long story short after two years of recovering I'm ready to brew my first two batches this saturday which is going to be a pale ale . Well I like my bourbon the best but I Love my beer too and my favorite Beer is Kentucky bourbon pale ale, bud light and just about any other ICE COLD BEER. I'm from the bourbon capitol of the wolrld (Frankfort, Kentucky) as if you hadn't already figured that one out. If any one knows how to make a good Ky bourbon pale ale with a brewmasters brewing kit then PLEASE HELP. I have a little while and probably need alot more experience but a countryboy can do anything and I will I would just like to make some friends and get some help to make it easier and so I dont mess up any beer . My name is Farley and I got my boyfriend Ben brewing supplies for Christmas '07. We love a good beer. We just finished our first batch, a brown ale and we were very happy with it! I actually made a slideshow of the process here, http://tinyurl.com/2yfwmb . Now we're working on our second batch, a Scotch ale.
We're very lucky to live in Asheville, NC because there is so much great beer here. There are many local breweries making great stuff, pubs serving it, and health food stores selling it. And as a bonus we have an excellent brewers supply store. We love lots of beers, just about anything that isn't too mainstream and has a good flavor. Hefeweizens and Ales are my favorites. My favorite commercial beer is probably DogFish Head's Indian Brown Ale. I also had a Tommyknocker Imperial Nut Brown brewed with maple syrup recently that I loved. Also, the locally brewed Highlands Mocha Stout is a fav. See, in the winter time I love rich, dark beers (I even like to leave them out of the fridge for a few hours to warm up.) But in the summer, nothing beats a Hefeweizen with a slice of orange. My boyfriend/partner, Ben loves it dark. Old Rasputin, a stout by NorthCoast Brewery is his favorite, no matter what time of year. We're very excited to brew something dark once our Scotch ale is finished. I'm sure I'll be coming here often with all the questions I have. ![]()

my name is chris. i just recently started brewing at my house. i love a good beer and always wanted to know how it was done. being a chef i wanted to know how it was made and the recipes and procedures and the whole process i guess.
i live in MI, so my weather is going to be constantly changing. if anyone else lives in the mid west it would be appreciated to get tips on how to brew in the very cold and also the very hot.
i think that the one thing i am looking forward to the most is creating my own recipes for beer using just the four main ingrediants and then exploring how to use other ingrediants found around the kitchen. looking forward to making a beer with some sort of exotic fruit or vegetable!

My name is Quad, and I too am a homebrewer. A newbie, but brewing just the same. I've wanted to get started on the homebrewing train for a few years now as my cousin homebrews and makes quite a few tasty beverages and figured I could do the same. Unfortunately, it's taken me a while to get going, but here I am finally! I've also gotten some good beer exposure in the past few years in attending the GABF for the past 4 years and taking trips outside of Denver to visit some of Colorado's breweries. I now make it a point to look for any breweries anywhere I'm traveling to so I can stop in and partake in a few great tasting brews.
So far I have a big Brown Ale sitting in my secondary based on a kit from my local brew store, and over the weekend I made a second batch, this time a custom brew American Pale Ale. Unfortunately I have not been able to taste any of my own finished products, but soon enough I will, and I'm hoping they'll at least be drinkable.
My roommate also homebrews, so between the two of us we should have plenty of good quality homebrew around the house. He's on these boards as well, Rooster's the name.
Anyhow, I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions in attempts to nail the homebrew process down, but figured it best to introduce myself first. See you all around!
Hello , Name is Mark been brewing for about 4 years started with kits. I just went to all grain and my first is in the primary right now. I still bottle my beer but plan on going to larger brews in the near future so I am looking for a few good used kegs to get started.

hi im Chris.. im very new to the fine art of homebrewing....whith the help of a friend ive brewed 2 batches since getting my tru-bru kit in early january...im hooked...needless to say i like beer as does everyone on this sight so i fit in very nicely...so my first batch didnt come out just the way i planed....damn hopped extract...its an aquried taste but i made it so i like it.....i do have another batch sitting in a primary right now so i cant wait to rack that over this weekend and start to brew more.....as i said im new to this and this sight rocks....thanks to everyone who makes it so....well back to work.........later
Just wanted to introduce myself, glad I found the forum, I've been brewing mostly wine for the last few years and thought I'd venture into beer. This forum has given me some great ideas and places to start. My buddy brews it but I'm a little behind, my wife likes wine, therefore that's what I brew......![]()

Hello fellow brewers,
Its been a few years since my last brew day mostly because I have been on the road and not really settled in any place, but I still hung on to my brew equipment in anticipation. I purchased a home last June and am now settled in the great state of Washington and am anxious to brew again. In fact, I am in the process of building a RIMS station which I have meticulously planned and have been wanting to do for a long time. Yep, I thought of HERMS but felt the features of RIMS were more to my satisfaction once I succumbed the possible scorching concern.
I started with the basic kit doing extracts and moved into AGs using adhoc equipment. I really like the science and tradition of brewing and have always liked trying different brews - like I will stand in front of the store's beer aisle for extended lengths of time assessing my next choice.....all those spiced up ales and lagers with pretty labels, too many choices. I can't say I really have any favorite beer, but I do enjoy beer with food. My roots are in Hawaii, so beer with poke, sashimi, or some type of pupu is at the top of my beer food combo. If you are thinking what the heck is poke (poe-kay) or pupus (poo-poos), then you really need to explore food tradition in Hawaii. That's all for now look forward to the forum exchange.
Looks like I will be on page 27 somewhere, but if anyone ventures this far I am a Wisconsin Firefighter, a title synonymous with beer! Here in the fridgid midwest we drink beer for all occasions: births, deaths, baptisms, graduation, record cold temperatures, first snow of the year, first zub-zero wind chill of the year, a day that ends in 'y', the groundhog saw his shadow, the Packers are on TV, we just drilled a fishing hole through the ice, Mark's cookin' Johnsonville Brats, or we are just spending some quiet time indoors. And we proudly support the "It's 5 o'clock somewhere" mantra. So as you can see I will be a busy brewer.
I have had an interest in this hobby for years now, but it took marriage and an insightful wife to get me started this past Christmas. First batch was an Australian, Second an Oatmeal Stout. From here the possibilities and potentials are endless. Now excuse me, I have a new baby girl that came two weeks ago, so I need to try to make some "It's a girl!" labels.
