Introduce Yourself
Howdy everyone!
My name is Doug and I live in Vancouver, WA. After being transferred here I lived right down the street from Bader's where I went to a couple of brewing classes. However I waited until I got my own place before brewing anything.
Got 8 batches done now, and looking forward to experimenting with darker ales. My favorites right now are the amber/red ales. Mac and Jacks and Fanno Creek's Dry Hop Red.
Looking forward to learning a lot from all your input to these forums.
Hello all!!!
Been brewing about 1.5 to 2 yrs now love everything about it!!!
have since started a homebrew club in NJ and also a Brewing podcast.
I look foward to many more years involved with brewing and beer!
Favorite style IPA or IIPA,Porter,Stout
First post on the site.
1. How long have you been brewing?
Received a kit from my sister's family this Christmas. First batch was Cooper's Real Ale, that we screwed up. ("Seriously, we meant it to be amber colored!") 2nd is an American Amber kit from Northern Brewer, currently in the primary. Third and many subsequent attempts will be the Mac and Jacks clone.
2. What is your favorite beer style?
I prefer Reds, Ambers and Irish/Scottish Ales. Do not like Pale's, Belgians or really "spicy" beers.
Oh and "Don't fruit the beer!" (That's called wine, which I also enjoy)
3. Where are you from?
Milwaukee, WI (Home of the Harley.... I mean formally the beer capitol of the world) I believe that nearly fifty years in this town should make brewing a second nature......Vaguely remember sneaking sips of Pabst when fetching dad's beer.
4. Wants and needs
Looking for an Andecker clone.
5. Regrets
Started this craft 20-30 years too late!

1. How long have you been brewing?
I just started this at the begining of February. First Brew was a English Brown Ale Kit from Brewers Best. It was okay. Im getting tired of kits and am looking at doing my first all-grain this week, i hope. I have brewed 6 - 8 times since my first and with the more im learning the more problems i actually seem to be having. I think its time to revert back or relook at what im doing.
2. What is your favorite beer style?
Since i am so new i cant say for sure yet, i used to like the light beer, budwisers and what not, but now they taste of carbonated cardboard. So far i seem to have a thing for wheat beers but ill drink just about anything with some flavour now.
3. Where are you from?
So far i have spend all 24 years of my life in eastern North Dakota. Most of it in Fargo. I love the winters and now with brewing and finally reading about lagering, i think im going to love them even more. I cant wait for the next one to come, silly spring and summer........... ![]()
1. How long have you been brewing?
I started with extract in 2006, and was on here as Brickyard (when I lived in Indianapolis). Now I've moved back to my home area of STL and am doing all-grain (and loving it).
2. What is your favorite beer style?
I am a huge fan of Steam/California Common, but also love Helles, Dortmunder, Brown Ales, and Milk Stout.
3. Where are you from?
St. Louis, MO -- Western Suburbs

2.I'm a "Hophead" so I indulge in a lot of IPA's,but i love just about anything that John Maier brews at my Favorite brewery located in somewhat sunny ,coastal,Newport -Oregon,otherwise known as Rogue Ales
3.I live where the winters are frosty white and the summer are blazing hot ,but forget about spring and fall lol.
In the high desert of central Oregon,Redmond to be exact.
Greetings!
1. How long have you been brewing?
I just started my second batch. My first batch was an American Pale Ale kit, I think the dry yeast in the kit was old because fermentation started slow and the batch ended up at only 2% ABV. For my second batch I am brewing a Brown Ale from a recipe with my own tweaks. I used a fresh Wyeast Activator and in less than 24 hours it had blown the top off of the fermenter and sprayed krausen everywhere. I had to rig up an emergency blow off tube to keep it from happening again.
2. What is your favorite beer style?
It depends on the season. In the summer I like an over abundance of hops. In the winter I prefer meal replacement beers like chocolate stouts and baltic porters.
3. Where are you from?
Northern Virginia. Lived here all my life
Hey everyone,
I have been enjoying this site for some time and I wanted to jump in an introduce myself.
1. How long have you been brewing?
I started out doing some beers at Brew on Premises places about 2 years ago. My wife bought me a gift certificate one year after I bored her to death talking about it for months.
I did two brews: a Mild and then a Pumpkin Ale and really fell in love with the process and wanted to start homebrewing. I bought a basic equipment kit and an ingredient kit from Brewers Best and I have been hooked ever since. I have been homebrewing for about 2 years and have done about 10 brews so far. All Extract with specialty grains. I moved to recipes rather than kits for my last two brews and love it.
2. What is your favorite beer style?
That is a very hard question. One thing homebrewing has done is really allowed me to expand my tastes. I have tried so many beers over the last few years and have found some styles that I love. I love Browns, Porters, Stouts, Holiday Ales, and Pale Ales, but I recently discovered IPAs and I am definitely thinking that is my favorite style. . . .right now. . . ![]()
3. Where are you from?
I live in Clinton, MA which is a small town in Central MA. I have lived in MA all my life, mostly Somerville and Brockton.
I am happy to be here and look forward to being a part of the board!
I've been brewing less than a year. I 'm hooked. I'm beyond hooked.
I've been building houses for 25yrs. 4yrs. ago it was booming we were actually turning down work. Now
construction workers will work on houses for wages because of the housing slump.
I was unemployed through two Christmas's and that sucked.
But this past January it all changed for me. An opportunity showed up and my wife agreed so we purchased
Fermentation Trap. The store was already established but the previous owners didn't have the time to invest
into it. Me being unemployed and with my wife's blessing I took a leap of faith.
My first beer was a Brown Ale. Then a Cervesa. Then a Wheat with fresh orange peel boiled in.
My next beer will be a Russian Stout with about 10.5 ABV.
I have a hard time trying to figure out what to brew next because it is endless to the different styles and
variations you can do to any one beer.
I love stouts,IPA's, Wheats, lets make it short. Everything except the over advertised pee in a bottle beer.
Well enough about me ,visit our store if you get a chance. www.fermentationtrap.com
CHEERS!!! Kenny
