Introduce Yourself
Hi There,
I'm Darren - haven't started homebrewing beer yet, but will be getting my first brew on in the next week or so. I do have an apple cider in primary at the moment, and will probably be looking for some advice on that!
Hi, my name is dave, I live in the southeast. I have been brewing for about 3 months, so don't have a lot to offer other than I really enjoy it. My first was a St. Patricks stout, which I really enjoyed. When it was ready, I had a beer and brat party, in the guise of a tasting get together. Had some regular beer as well, just in case lol. I personally enjoyed the stout, but found that most of the others didn't care for it. That was ok, as it left more for me. Since I have made a canadian draft, which everyone seemed to enjoy, and now have a wiezen in the fermenter. Will bottle in about a week. Am anxious to see how it turns out. Am enjoying the brewing, but as I said am learning as I go. Any and all advice is appreciated. thanks for your time.
Hello, all, the name here is Dave.
I've been brewing for about five years, the last 3 all-grain. I tend to brew a lot of english ales, with the occasional Octoberfest/Maerzen in the spring. I have a modified version of a APA that I like to keep on tap for friends and myself as well. Looking forward to seeing some more posts from everybody.
Cheers!
Mike here,
It's been around 12 years since my last batch of home brew. I didn’t know much about beer when I started those many years ago.
Since then, I found a Micro Brewery in Columbus Ohio where I studied for and received my MBA (Master of Beer Appreciation). It was a lot of hard work.
To receive your MBA you need to drink at least one pint of the "beer of the month" for a year straight. Once you have completed the yearlong course you receive a certificate and a 24 oz beer mug that they fill for the price of a pint. I have since gone back and attained my PHD (Pilsner, Hops & Draft).
Now that I have all this knowledge of what I like & especially what I don’t like. I'm ready to clean my equipment and get started again.
Favorites:
Pale Ale
Imperial IPA (double hopped)
Barley Wine
Porters
Oatmeal Stout
Coffee Stout
Dopple Bach
California Common (Steam beer)
Not so favorites:
ANY kind of wheat beer (except Sam Adams winter fest)
Fruity beers
Scottish Ale
Lite beers
My first batch is about to go in the Primary Diamond Knot IPA
My name is Chris Miller. I've been brewing since 1994, but only really active since 1996. Since 1998, I've gone absolutely hog wild, purchasing over $3000 in equipment over the years, and branching out into wines, meads, and distillates. I'm also very much into historical brewing practices, being a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).
I am currently a part-owner of Home Brew Supply, LLC in St. Joseph, MO. I am an award winner for historical beers and wines in the SCA, and took a silver medal in the 2005 AHA Nationals for my cyser.
My favorite beverages are meads by far. My favorite beers are dark. I also love experimenting.
What I don't like...? People who say they don't like something without tasting it. Also, people who insist that everything they try tastes good. Worse - people who insist everything they brew tastes good. :-)
I have been homebrewing for about 8 years. I joined the Upstate New York Homebrewers in 2003. A year later I became VP, served 2 years, and now I am President. We are centered in Rochester, NY. Check us out at: www.unyha.com
My favorite style is American IPA, although I like many other styles as well. I have just begun making mead, cider and perry. I also made a maple wine last year.
Hay Mon;
Been brewin for close to a year now, and love it.
Started with all-grain... I know, they say you need to brew a kit of sometin, but I started the way the early brewers did and it works great.... Besides, I figure the early brewers didn't have kits and they did OK so why couldn't I???
If you really want to get into brewing, read all you can get your hands on and then just go for it.
You really never know how easy someting is until you try. All grain brewing is not so hard, it just takes a little longer.
I've brewed a dozen or so batches, all ale style, and this winter will be brewing some lager batches just to check it out. I also brew (make) wine and have about 10-12 different wines to sip on this winter as well.... You know.... wine really is easier than beer to make.
Like I said, get some good books on this beer/wine thing and read. You TOO can start with all grain and leave those kits behind....
Till next time
Happy brewin to all and to all a good light!
I have been brewing since 1993 but have only brewed 65 batches of brew.
I love Bavarian Wheat beer. Maisel Kristall Weizen is one of my favorites. I have probably brewed about 50 beers, most of them different. I have also brewed about 10 ciders and 5 wines. I like to use honey in my recipes.
I am from Anoka, MN and am a long standing member of the Rum River Wort Hogs home brew club. http://rrworthogs.dyndns.org:8002/
Hello Brewers,
My name is Jonathan Wagner. Brewing has been in my family for ages. From Germany, the Wagner Family still has over 15 different Brew Houses and since my grandfather moved here to the United States I would love to continue the tradition. I am very new to brewing and I am have to learn it all from my own, since my father did not carry on what my grandfathers have accomplished. I hope to learn and share what I learn from you all.
Cheers!
Jonathan Wagner
