Introduce Yourself
1. I've been brewing off and on since 1992. Brewed off and on since. Putting together generation 3 all grain system right now.
2. Favorite style is IPA and ESB
3. Native Oregonian temporarily residing in SOCAL.
I was born grew up in and initiated into beer drinking in a land that thought "real Beer" was Canadian Beer -eh?, not the "piss water' from southo' da border. (Arrogance of youth-Ignorance of upbringing)
I was educated through three years of living, thanks to the generosity of my government armed forces, in the Black Forest of Germany. When I went there, the passion was to learn more fully the wines of Europe. The surprise was the first true pilsner, Wiezenbier, bockbier, Altbier, Dunkelbier, dunkelaltbier, Weissbier....
Then I went - "on exercise" to the Bayern - home of Munich (Munchen) and the three hundred local breweries
Then I found out I lived 7 km from Alscace. Ohhhhh, mon Dieu, les bieres. Then I had to do a NATO inspection in Belgium, (Whimper, sigh,,,,the mussels,,, the BIER!)
Prior to 1990, in my useless opinion, Noth America had lost its' taste buds, its'
I have since learned , it is easy to make a $10 red wine, and, for me, impossible to make a $20 bottle.
It is possible to match but never duplicate a $1 bottle of Riegelerbier aus der Schwarzwald, a Marzenbock, a,,, you get the picture. A $1 Reigelrebier is Priceless.
Sixteen years after a Christmas gift of a basic brewing kit from my wife, I have played with everything from straight kit to all grain brew and side trips into cider and mead. I five gallon batches I have brewed a lot of beer.
I have a lot of friends - becuse or in spite of?
Some bad batches, lessons learned, some fabulous experiments, lessons learned.
I am still learning. I am still a novice. I am worthless.

PS - My current pre Christmas ferment includes, Altbier, Pilsner, IPA, Ginger Ale (mmm), Blackberry beer, and a locally semi-famous "kitchen sink".
Hello All!
I guess I have a real slim chance of winning anything but I figured I'd post an introduction anyway. I've been brewing for a very short time (4 batches including my fourth which is fermenting right now). So far so good. Well the first one wasn't the greatest but was drinkable. LOL!

Howdy. Newb here with no brewing experience, but I'm slowly acquiring equipment. I have a science background and have read Papazian's HBC from cover to cover a couple of times.
I love cooking, trying new foods and drinks, and experimenting in the kitchen. Some of my favorite creations have included Mango Moussaka, Spicy-Hot Cinnamon-Chocolate Cookies, and fried cheese and bacon.
Presently, I have acquired a 30qt brew-kettle, a few HDPE2 buckets and lids, a glass carboy, and a few other doodads (airlocks, stirrers, etc). My project for the week will be to build a counter-flow wort chiller and after that things ought to move pretty quickly. The only thing holding me up is that I need more bottles. I know of numerous stores around here that sell microbrews, so I've buying pre-filled bottles and emptying them as quickly as I can. ::urp::
As for brweing, I don't like the idea of kits because they seem to limit the amount you learn, however, I recognize my limitations so unless people convince me to the contrary, I'll be starting with simple recipes using extracts, perhaps with a partial mash grain steep, and DME for bottle-conditioning.
I think for my first brew I''ll shoot for making a sweet brown ale. I also like ESB's, Barleywines, malty stouts, and the occasional Bavarian Wheat, but most of those are rather challenging endeavors. Fruit beers can be good too, but I'll save those until I have a few successful brews under my belt.
Anyway, I'm glad to be here. Any advice is appreciated.
Hello everyone!
I am new to the site and new to brewing. I have reading all the helpful information here for the past couple of days and felt I needed to be a part of this community.
I have never brewed before, though I have a burning desire to learn to craft the most personal beer possible.
My favorite style of beer? I love seasonals... all types of them. I love a hearty sweet stout or a smokey porter. I love beer that pushes the limits of bold taste and style.
I am from Boston, Mass.
Cheers
1. One month.. been around it for a few years though.
2. I like them all; if I had to choose it would Stout/Porter

I prepared my first batch yesterday, a kit put together by the Phoenix, AZ homebrew shop I purchased my starter equipment from. It's bubbling merrily and I can't be more thrilled. I'm hoping to have my first homebrew on Christmas Day or New Year's Day.
My favorite beer at this time is Oktoberfest.
Well welcome all of you - be sure to give us an update on your brews!
It's my pleasure to meet all of you guys. I've observed almost all members here were experts in Homebrewing. And I'm very much thankful for all the knowledge you've shared. More power to all Brewers!
