Kegerators

Hey guys,  looking for a good place to purchase a kegerator.  Just starting to do my research and want a good quality kegerator for a reasonable price/shipping cost.  I'm open for suggestions if you guys could help out.  I live in New York city, so if there are retailers around here that woud be awesome, but I'm sure I can have shipped to my apartment.  Looking to spend $500 or so.

Thanks

$500 will buy you a compact one line system, prebuilt. If you can get a fridge/freezer for $50 you can put a multiline system in for under $300, and always upgrade for about $80/faucet for good quality hardware.

A lot of people say, oh I just need one line, but then you will be kicking yourself later. i just built one for my buddy a couple weeks ago, and he talked himself into 2 lines during the build. Luckily I had extra graveyard equpt laying around. Just my $.02

Where can you find a fridge/freezer for $50 thats big enough for 2 kegs?

Craigslist. Our local craigslist seems to have at least 2 or 3 a day posted. Within a week you could probably score huge. So far I have bought one for $25 I use for lagering, my buddy bought a compact for $60 and he fits 3 cornies, and the one I just built for another buddy was $25, and he is running 2 sanke 1/4 bbls.

Just assuming NYC should have similar listings

My other reasoning is the buddy who has the 3 corny hookup, had a single towerr setup he bought at best buy for $550 2 years before that, broke after 2 years. Now for 1/2 the price he has 4 taps and can run 3 at once.

Would a compact fridge like the one below work or will the little bump on the bottom inside take up too much room, not allowing a corny in there?  I would assume you have to remove the freezer

you may be able to squeeze 2 in there if you took out the freezer and the front plastic shelving (just replace it with some insulated flat plastic board)

have a full size kegerator. it fits 3 corney kegs and a 5 pound co2 bottle inside. was a single faucet system but got a new tower so its a triple now! love it..

Craiglist is the place for these finds! Especially right now with alot of colleges graduating, kids are moving out of town and trying to get rid of fridges, chest freezers, and kegerators. I just got a full size frig with full kegerator set up and a new full c02 tank for $240 last weekend. Also am going to score a chest freezer this weekend to put a tower system on that a guy has for cheap that will hold 4 cornies and the gas tank. Just look in local classifieds, college newspapers, and things of that type.

Check out kegkits.com.  They sell the fridges at Best Buy.
