kind of hops everyone uses

I know the obvious differences between pellets, leaf, and plugs.... but I was just curious which form everyone typically uses, and is there any advantages/disadvantages from one form to another?

I like pellets. Mostly the difference is in ease of use. That and pellets are easier to store due to higher density.

Some need certain types because of kettle filtering.

Some say leaf hops are qualitatively better, but I haven't found that to be true.

Really they should all work the same as long as they're fresh.

Pellets use a lot less storage space and absorb a lot less wort\beer. Whole hops are much easier to contain  when dry hopping. My personal preference is pellets in the kettle and whole leaf for dry hopping.

ahh ok.... its just been a little over a year since i've brewed, and before that I always used pellet hops with no problem.  I'm just getting back into brewing and was looking at some hops and noticed that there was a price difference between the 3 for the same hops and it kinda got me wondering if maybe the process they use to make pellets affected how well you could utilize them since those were the cheapest.  Also I got another question for everyone.... How well do hops hold up if they're kept in a freezer, as I said its been over a year since i've brewed and just recently stumbled on some hops in the bottom of the chest freezer that I had apparently forgot about.  I'm assuming a year is probably a little long but just curious.

I am still using my home grown from last year, and am noticing little if any break down in how they are impacting the bittering.  It does seem to take just a little bit more to get the same impact on the dry hop side, but that could just be my imagination, as I really like a strong aroma and flavor from the dry hop side.  My hops are stored in the freezer, in one ounce plugs, vacuum packed in oxygen barrier (standard seal-a-meal) bags.  Has really worked well over the past year.  It does mean that I am using only whole hops.  I am crossing my fingers that this year's harvest keeps going as well as it looks right now.  Looks close to double of last year.
