Need Advice on Hitting my Mash Temps!

Just a follow up for anyone who cares...

I did another batch yesterday and was successful at raising my temp from 122F to 152F.  I used the web site I linked above and it worked great.

Cheers

How did you raise your mash temperature? What method did you use?

By using the formulation the site provided, I knew how much hot water to add to my grist.  That's the problem I was having prior to finding the site, I didn't know how much additional water I'd need to get a precise change (raise) in temp.

I know we've discussed this before, and I know the malts I'm buying (weyermann & breiss) are fully modified, but I still like to do a protein rest at around 122F.  Since I don't want to mess around all day long, I then seek one conversion rest at 152F after that.

So did you use the typical quart per pound of grain, then add boiling water after the protein rest to raise the temperature?

Maybe Gizmo will see it this time?? tongue
