ok just bottled my first batch

just bottled first batch lets hope it turs out well.   started second batch so we will see what happens

What did you make? what yeast did you use?

used a wheat malt with crystal  hops  and the us-05 yeast we will see how it urns out

I recently read about a cool trick to help you know when your beer is carbonated. I think it was in Palmers book.
When you bottle, fill a small water bottle (11.6oz) the same way you fill the bottles. Be sure to leave the same head space that you would in a bottle. Squeeze the water bottle so there is no air left in the bottle and cap it. It should be crushed slightly. When the yeast create enough CO2 the bottle will reshape itself and become firm. Then you know you are done and you don't have to keep opening the bottles to check if they are carbonated. I haven't tried this but it seems like a good idea.

hey thanks for the tip ill have to try this when i bottle this next batch

Love the water bottle idea. Though it kinda takes the fun out of trying your beer every few days to see if its good. But I think im going to try it out the next time I bottle.

That water bottle trick sounds like it might work. I'm going to give that a go myself next time I bottle.
