Oops
Hey all. I've just finished cleaning out my airlock as it had bubbled full of wort and even bubbled some through the little holes and onto the lid of my bucket. I'm a little concerned as the suction created by pulling on the airlock sucked a little of that wort back in to the bucket when I removed it. I guess my question is, how worried should I be about contamination?
BTW the fermenter was fine last night when I checked on it. The wort has been in he bucket since about 4:00 am est Saturday.
I had a stout do that a couple months ago, it was fine.
yeah that will even happen with a blow off tube. It will be fine, just sit back and let the yeast do it's thing. But you should think about switching to a tube, not as much of a mess, usually.
I wouldn't worry about contamination at all - it sounds pretty minor. Sure, there's a chance that you might have some slight off-flavors, but I think those chances are small...
You should read some of the other stories on here. Start with this one: Newbie Worries. Also, my doomed brew is turning out to be OK (not great, but OK).
Hopefully that will provide some encouragement.

I've thought about that but I have cats and they are sure to mess withthat set up. So far I've been lucky, they don't seem to care about the airlock. Thanks for the response everybody.
