Recipe Advice
Hey guys. I'm brewing a beer for a friend who is a big Guiness fan. He'd doesn't really even drink unless it's Guiness, so I'm attempting to please someone who doesn't have a very expansive palet. I just wanted some feed back on the recipe I came up with for him since I've found that people who drink nothing but commercial beers often aren't too open for change. I'm not going after a Guiness clone, I'd just like to brew something a Guiness drinker will like.
10lbs 2row
2lbs flaked barley
1lb carafoam
.75 roasted barley
.25 black patent
1.5oz Kent Goldings @60 min
.5oz. Kent Goldings @15 min
Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale
60 minute sacc rest @ 155*F
7.5 gallon batch for a 6 gallon batch.
OG: 1.049 - 4.7%abv
25 IBUs
SRM 32*L
60% efficiency.
Thanks
Recipe looks good but you may consider dropping the mash temp a bit. You're really going to want to dry this sucker out.

Very true. I'll go with 150-152.
Brewing this as we speak. I ended up mashing at 150. Also at the brew store I accidentally bought 2 lbs of flaked barley in addition to the 2lbs of catafoam/pils. Oops, haha guess its going to come out to 5% instead of 4.7%
Also had to deal with my first stuck mash. I bought pre milled grain and then ran them through the mill again at the store. I'm guessing it was just extra powdery. My efficiency was a low, low 37% the last time I brewed so I'm taking some extra precaution this time.
