Sam Adams Utopias
Has anybody tried any of the Sam Adams Utopias? Just out of curiosity, as the 2005 release is selling for $400 on ebay (yes that is four hundred dollars). Can they be this good?
at that price would you even drink it? or are these brews more of a collectors item? I bought a six pack of sam adams triple bock, a few years back when i think they started doing these special styles, and it was disgusting, seriously gag and vomit level it came back out as fast as it went in for the three of us that tried it that night.
I tried one of the Triple Bocks as well. I didn't think it was quite as bad as the experience you had, but not very good either. Supposedly, it ages well, but haven't seen a bottle of it in a while.
The Utopias just caught my eye as they are so expensive and so high in alcohol (over 20% ABV depending on the year). I guess that I would have a hard time opening and drinking one of these bottles if I happened to be in possesion of one.
Holy @#$$! My dad has one of those just sitting in his "beer fridge". Maybe I'll "borrow" it...
Sounds tempting - I'm a sucker for expensive things.
i believe i still have a few of them left, how much longer do you think it should age before trying it again, I'll make sure i get a bucket and some clothespins for my nose.

Yeah, you can't sell alcohol products for consumption, so they always sell the bottle not the contents. A way around the ebay rules.

Yeah, from a couple of years ago, it's just been sitting there.
