Thoughts On Honey Malt
Well.... it's called HONEY malt so of course I want to try it. Just waiting on my 8.5g cook pot and I'll be ready to rock n roll all grain style. And I was maybe thinkin of whippin out an 80/20, 2 Row / Honey Malt brew with a nuetral ale yeast an medium hops.
Any body here use honey malt and have any pointers or suggestions????
I used it in a brown ale before. it was tasty, kinda like a sweeter crystal malt. I wouldnt over do it tho because the flavor could become cloying. I think i used a 1/10 ratio.
There is a good description of Honey Malt on Brewchez' website: http://www.brew-dudes.com/honey-malt/175
I haven't used it yet...but looking forward to it!

I was going to post a link to that site.... ![]()
Personally,, I love the stuff. I've used it in Wheat Ales with a little lemon rind and it always turns out very nicely... I've also used it in different sweet stouts with good results because it does leave a faint sweetness... I don't notice one like Vynalwhl describes, but that could just be because I like a sweeter beer than he does.
