We brewed beer today!!

Marv and I brewed beer today.  It was a lot of fun. smile

Pics are coming... smile

What did you make?

I think it was called "Old English Ale," or something like that.

We made 5 gallons.

While brewing we drank some commercial brew, including Third Coast (my favorite) and some Pumpkin Ale.  Lotso fun. smile

Sounds like fun - can't wait to see pics!

Sounds like a good day, as brewing usually is.

I brewed up a porter today. It went pretty smooth. Some how I managed to brew an all grain batch while taking care of my 7 month old son, I'm getting pretty good at this.

We brewed 17 hours ago.  I just checked it.  There's about 2" of foam floating on top.  A CO2 bubble is released about every 5 seconds.

Does this sound O.K.?

I sniffed the top of the air lock.  Smelled like beer! tongue smile cool

Sounds like it's starting to get going, did you make a starter?   17 hours is a touch slow to start, but not at all bad.

Marv started the yeast on Friday in 1 gallon of water.

Two hours after we added the yeast, we were getting a bubble every 30 seconds.  It's now 17 hours later, and it's bubbling every 5 seconds. smile

Sounds like he started dry yeast then?  You may want to give it something to eat if you wake it up that early.
