What is Everyones Favorite Winter Beer?

What is everyone's favorite Winter Beer? Homebrew? Microbrew?  What warms you up from the bitter winter cold (if you're in the north).  Is it Dark?  Is it Heavy?  Let's hear it.   My personal favorite is an Imperial Stout.  I haven't had a homebrewed one yet, but I've got one conditioning for the long winter.

Anchor Brewing Company makes a great Christmas brew.  I also like the barley wines that start popping up here in the next couple of months.

My LBHS had a winter warmer style beer as the beer of the Month for last November.  I brewed that, and it was pretty good.

BYO magazine had a recipe for a Dema-Goddess Ale in the September issue that looked pretty promising as a winter brew.  The alcohol was supposed to be 14 - 16%.  I think that it is probably too late to brew that one for this year, though, as it probably needs quite a bit of aging to be drinkable.

I enjoy my version of HBA's St. Nicks Holiday Ale http://www.homebrewadventures.com/shopp … Code=A-SNH
But commercially I really enjoy Widmer Brothers Snow Plow, and of course Great Divide's Oak Aged Yeti. Great winter warmers to keep the heat in. big_smile

I forgot the Widmer Bros Snow Plow.  That is one of the few beers I wouldn't mind trying to clone.  That is a great brew.

One that I wish they would release again for the holidays is the Summit Oatmeal Stout. It was the smoothest, silkiest stout I have ever had, & was only available one year from Fall until March.  Such a shame...but one of the local brew-pubs liked it so much that they put a clone of it permanently in their line-up!

Not that I mind going to that brew-pub, but I want it to be available at other places, too!

This year I am finally going to try making my own Oatmeal Stout.  Should be a lot of fun, as I have never done a partial-mash recipe before!  I'll post about that when it happens.

Other beers I enjoy that only seem to be around near the holidays are the Sam Adams' and Rogue Chocolate Stouts.  Mmmm, that's fine drinking! big_smile  Only problem is, I haven't seen the Sam Adams' on tap for years, and have never seen the Rogue on tap...just in the brilliantly-oversized bottle.

Rogue is in Portland, right?  Might be time to plan a trip...

Oooohh...I forgot about Summit Oatmeal Stout.  I'm actually not too much of a fan of a lot of Summit's stuff (too hoppy for me - I'm a Schell's guy), but that was a great beer.

Yummm, I love the Rogue Chocolate Stout.  Also I think their Shakespeare Stout and Dead Guy Ale are fantastic as well.  I can't say enough good things about the Rogue beers that I've had.

Borealis Brewery Barley Wine
Alaskan Winter Ale
Humpy's Nitrogen Charged Monk's Maiden

I dont veen know if im a real drinker or fan of beer after reading you guys favorite winter beer. I have never heard of none of those beers ever before in my life!

Has anyone had Dogfish's World Wide Stout?  Now that will warm you up.
