yeast problem?
I just put my first beer in the primary fermenter and a couple of hours later I see globs floating in the liquid. Did I do something wrong? Some other posts talk about yeast floating on top but this is in the suspension. I'm 15 and my Mom used to do this a long time ago so she's helping me but she doesn't remember it looking like this.
Sounds fine. Welcome to the board.
Wait... you're 15 and brewing your own beer? And your mom is helping you??
What country do you live in? (serious question)
i'm sure your mom will be the one drinking it. it's probably for a science expirement. Some yeast will do that make funky Lava lamp movement in the primary, it's fine, and really cool to look at.
Hi, this is Mom answering. We've been ofline for a little while. We live in Canada for those wondering and yes, the adults get most of the beer but I think the process is a great learning experience and whoo knows; maybe he'll run a microbrewery when he's older. The beer took a really long time to ferment because it seems to be quite cool in the house. Those blobs finally did settle out and the batch was bottled a couple of days ago. We'll see how well he did soon.
Yea, a full month, what kind of yeast did you use? i'm sure it's done, i'd put it somewhere warmer to carb up.
If you need just a little heat for your fermentation or carbing, try a 25 watt incandescent light bulb in a clamp-on fixture. It will raise the temp a few degrees.
