Applying the wax to the corks

Hi all,

I just corked up a mead ... and I want to dress up the corks with some wax that we picked up at the LHBS. I tried to get it started Saturday after we corked them, thinking it would be quick and easy...but I had a fishing trip planned, and it looked like waxing was going to take much longer than expected. Regardless, other than to melt the wax, we had no idea where to start.

Does anyone have a preferred method for melting, and then applying the wax to the corks? Any and all advice appreciated.
