i'd like to enter this, but all of my meads are bottled in 750 ml green champagne-type bottles.

i don't know if re-bottling the mead will affect it negatively, so i don't know if it is worth even trying to get some in 12-oz bottles for judging. any thoughts?

I was thinking of getting into this also but like you my mead is in large bottles.  Since it's still mead I was thinking of transfering to 12 oz bottles and then purging with CO2 just to be safe from oxidation.

Same boat here. I think you'd be fine doing a transfer. I did that with a Wee Heavy I had in a growler down to 22 oz. bottles and everything went fine.

That's the same suggestion I have.  Many brewers bottle their meads in 22 oz bombers or kegs and have to transfer to 8's or 12's for the contest.  As skervy says, purge with CO2 if you can.

Good luck all,
Wild
