price of honey

Check out Northern Brewer on the web. Their varietal honeys are about $10  for 3lbs but the blended goes for about $7. They also sell 12 lb. jugs. Clover, Sage, Orange Blossom and Wildflower plus a blend.

If you have a local food Co-op, give them a try. I can get 10# from my local coop for $25.

i tried local harvest.com but none of the locals have honey. darn. I havent checked my LHBS for honey because it used to be overpriced there, but maybe they have come down.

tried the LHBS and no honey.. curses

Honey prices will be going up due to the shortage of bees...................

I tried trying to get ahold of some Orange Blossom honey online.  I could find it cheap enough, roughly $25-30 for 12 pounds, but it was costing me at least 25 bucks to have shipped.  I went to Costco today and picked up 15 lbs of Clover Honey for $22 ($7.39/5#).  Could I add a little orange zest to add a little citrusy flavor to it when I make a mead?

found 5 lbs for 13$ at an amish farmers market. woop. love the amish.

I'm making a pale ale this weekend with some special honey from Greece.  The guy I got it from had to have it shipped discreetly to avoid paying tariffs...it would go for around $25 per cup in the States, maybe $10 per in Greece.....I don't know what's so special about it, other than it comes from the mountains.....I plan on putting all in the secondary for the most flavor and aroma.....

FYI, I saw the same brand & 5# bottle at Sam's & the local LHBS.

Sam's  $9.72,  LHBS  $20.95  and Sam's is closer.

is it herbal honey? I heard thyme and rosemary honey is as good as it is expensive.

I'm not sure....all I know is that it comes from way up in the mountain villages of Greece..
