Vanilla Mead

Hey All,

I made a small batch of Vanilla Mead in January. I tried a bottle in the Spring, and the vanilla was overpowering. I tried a bottle again last weekend, and it was very nice. I plan to bring a bottle to the September meeting, to help us wash down all those fruit beers.

UrbanLegend, how goes your vanilla mead?

 

Hi kristopher,

The vanilla maple I bottled 2 weeks ago. I also bottled a Vanilla, Cinnimon and Nutmeg that we made around the same time as the Vanilla Maple. The vanilla maple tasted very good, cleared up well. I only used 1 vanilla bean in it and no extract so the flavor is not too over powering. I don’t think mine is quite ready to drink since its only 2 weeks in teh bottle - what do you think?

If we talk about a strong taste vanilla mead then what should be the percentage or quantity in it of vanila?
