I Just Had a 32 Year Old Scotch
As some of you know, I am a fan of a good scotch. Well, tonight I had a treat.
I was at a local establishment that has a good scotch selection. I decided I was going to go for the Dalmore scotch from 1992. I had the option between a 1972 Dalmore, 1987, and 1992. I didn't want to pay for the 1972 scotch as it was more money than I wanted to spend, and I figured that there wouldn't be much of a difference between 87 and 92.
Well, to my eventual happiness, the bar had only a few drops of the 92. So the bartender decided to give me a taste testing. He set out three glasses total. In the first glass he put the rest of the 92 in, in the second he put the 87, and the third had the 72. All glasses were regular size glasses, and being able to taste them side by side was incredible.
I'll leave it at this - if you ever get the chance to have the 72 Dalmore, I would highly suggest it. Tons of licorice and blackberry flavors with little alcohol bite. Incredible aroma that reminds one more of a fine wine than scotch.
Oh...best of all...I didn't have to pay for a single one. ![]()
Wow! Nice score Web. I've just started to get into the scotches due to my interest in cigars. Keep us up to date with any other tastes to try.
Thanks,
Wild
I love it when stuff like that happens.
I hope you dropped a decent tip on that bartender.
Very nice......when I was in Denver recently, the hotel bar had a good selection of single-malts, including a 30yo Macallan.....I just couldn't see paying $44 for a 2 oz pour....I got beer instead, Sams, and something else..I was already in the bag, so I don't remember....

Oh, he always gets a good tip. Whenever we visit him we get a better than average pour, and free tastings are usually on the menu's.
30 year old McCallans? I've had their 21 year which was incredibly smooth.
I usually go with The Macallan 12. It's really good, and isn't as expensive. Once in a while, I like to treat myself, and I'll get the 21. I've been trying a few others, as I have a store with 150+ single malts on the shelf.....leaves a lot of decisions, but usually good results. I'm somewhat nursing a bottle of Glen Breton, which is made is Nova Scotia, but with standard Scottish practice. It's ok, but there are much better......
