whats the best beer for Thanksgiving dinner?

what type of beer do you enjoy with your Turkey?

Sam Adams Oktoberfest or Winter Ale if I have to buy something .....I have my own home brewed Oktoberfest ready now so that may change this year. Wish my Holiday Ale was ready but it is still in the secondary.

I've been wondering that very thing this year.  Not only for dinner but while visiting with family, smoking the bird, dining, and after the meal.  This year I'm fortunate to have several kegs to choose from.  I'll most likely start off with something light like my Amber and Irish Red Rye.  Enjoy my Pale with dinner and my Espresso Imperial Stout for the after dinner coffee (so to speak).  Then I'll finish the evening with a cigar and my Oak Aged Bourbon Porter.  I have a lot to give thanks for.

I'll be mixing in some classic Sam Winter Lager with some fine Scotch, maybe a 12 Laphroaig or 15 Macallan...If I can find anything special at my local store, that will work too.  Of course, I'll be having some Sam Utopias as well.  I currently have only one, but I have a guy holding three more for me.  I don't know how many I'll get.  I really can't afford any, but I really want at least one to shelf, and one to drink.  I was also waiting for a certain brand I usually dislike, Michelob, to relase their special brew, Celebrate.  It originally came in a Vanilla, last year was Vanilla and Chocolate.  I'm not a big fan of chocolate brews, but it's not bad.  However, I found out today, that there will be no vanilla this year.  Instead, they have created a dark cherry blend, which sounds quite yummy.  I also hope it's sold as the bottle alone.  The gift pack is nice, but I already have the glasses, and I'm not giving it to anyone, other than my good friend, my liver........

I just picked up a couple bottles of great beer for pairing with our Thanksgiving dinner.  For the main course we'll be drinking this years installment of Avec les bon Voeux from Brasserie Dupont, a great spiced holiday Saison.  For dessert we'll be drinking the coup de grace of Flanders Red beers, Duchess de Bourgogne.

I may be cracking into a bottle of Allagash Grand Cru before dinner.  After that I will drink some Oatmeal Stout until dinner.

I will just drink water during dinner.

After dinner I am probably thinking a lambic with fruit to go with a late evening dessert.  A nice Kriek to go with my wife's cherry pie.  (OK that didn't sound quite right, keep your comments to yourself).

I'm having my holiday ale, and whatever my guests decide to bring...

Seems like 5 gallons of beer is just never enough for holidays of excess....

Unfortunately most of my friends and family prefer wine with food as a better pairing.  I tell them time and again that beer goes better with food, but they still don't listen.

Evidiently my homebrewed American Wheat was the beer of choice for our thanksgiving.
