2008 BKB Spring Brew Brainstorm

I vote for Kolsch or Hefe as well.  Both are relatively simple; there are great partial recipes all over the place online, or we could make one up, which is what I prefer, even if it is an experiment...

I like Deafcones idea. MaiAle seems workable for all and everyone could tweak as they wish.

k we have had a couple of days for ideas, now lets vote:

Maibock / Mai-ale
Kolsch = 1
Hefe / Wheat something
Amber
Vienna

Okay, so I'll cast my official vote for a Kolsch.  Only because I already have a recipe that I was going to brew anyway, and I've already made a wheat ale.......

Maibock / Mai-ale =
Kolsch = 2
Hefe / Wheat something =
Amber =
Vienna =

I have never done a Kolsch.  So, I vote for a Kolsch!!!!!!!  I brew honey ales and wheats all the time.

What about a crisp belgian wit? Kinda like an allagash white or ommegang hennepin?

I could also go with a Belgian Wit if more prefer that, but if not, I'm sticking with a Kolsch...

Maibock / Mai-ale = 3
Kolsch = 3
Hefe / Wheat / Wit = 2
Amber = 1
Vienna =

So we've got quite a race going here....

KyNGmedic, you have mentioned both a hefe style, and a vienna...which do you prefer?....... just so we can keep a true total.....

We can do either a partial mash, to accomadate all brewers, or we can convert the same recipe for our AG brewers, which ever is preferred by most overall.....

Just a thought, but if we set a deadline to brew, say march 1, we could have a finished product by say April30 (unless a lager wins the vote). Why not try and do a swap. I've done it a few times now and it is pretty cool actually. Everyone who commits, odd or even amount will get paired w/ someone else. You ship to someone and someone different ships to you:

Sender     /      receiver
    A                         B
    B                         C
    C                         D
    D                         A

and so forth.

We could devise a recipe and stick to it then comment on eachother's, or pick a style and brew your own recipe for comparison.

As long as deadlines are adhered to it would all be pretty easy, whoever wants to participate is welcome, I would be happy to administer if webby dosn't object- any thoughts?

Well since I just did the vienna... gotta say hefe is in my top.

If we get some votes though, I'll switch to vienna. I want to breath some life into this style and tweaking and perfecting a triple decoction recipe is going to be a goal of mine.

Well, it looks like it's going to be a race.  I'll vote Maibock.
