2008 BKB Winter Brew - Oatmeal Stout

Didn't plan on brewing this beer, but ended up doing something like it:

7# Light DME
1# Oatmeal
1/3 # Black Patent
1/5 # Dark Crystal
1/3 # Medium Crystal
1/2 # German Carafa II (Chocolate)
1 oz. German Northern Brewer 9% (60 min. boil)
White Labs Irish Ale Yeast(3 day 1 pint starter)
O.G. 1.063
Fermentation really took off, had to install a blow off tube about 8 hours after pitching.
It's in 2ndry now, will keg in a few days.

Had originally wanted to do an Irish Stout, but do to the limited availability of certain grains at my LHBS, I was forced to improvise.  They haven't had roasted barley for almost a month now! And I took all their dark Crystal malt(all they had was 1/5 of a pound anyway).

I'm planning on doing this in a couple of weeks as my first all grain batch. I was gonna do a simple pale ale first as practice, but what the heck, the process is the same, might as well go for it with something yummy.

Pray for me....
