Blueberry beer?

Has anyone ever brewed a beer with fresh blueberries included in the recipe?  While it doesn't sound like something I'd like, or attempt, my brother's neighbor apparently brewed a nice balanced batch of it.  If I recall correctly, he said the trick was to use crystal malt and chocolate malt.

Just curious if anyone has brewed anything like this.

I love fruit beers and have made SEVERAL using raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, you name it.

I brew 10 gallons, but here are a few 5 gallon recipes:

8# 2 row pale, 1/2# crystal 40L, 6# blueberries, any mild bittering hop, no aroma hops

8# 2 row pale, 1/2# munich, 1/2# wheat, 3# blueberry, 3# raspberry, same hops again

For hops, I use anything just about anything under 6% AA. Never aroma. I personally boil my fruit for 15 minutes because I love the haze. No effect on flavor. Add fruit to secondary, then before racking into key, rack between buckets (or whatever) a few times to remove sediment.

I took my signature blueberry beer to a homewarming party over the summer and it was a BIG hit.

That sounds appetizing. I haven't tasted any homebrewed beer like that, but I've noticed some of the microbreweries in my area seem to go for some varied flavours in their products.

Raspberry and blueberry are to die for. I have a batch of raspberry going right now. The last batch of blueberry I gave away, only 1 person didn't like it.

The last time I brewer blueberry (in the summer), I split the 10 gallon batch with 2 yeasts. I kept one for myself and I blew a corny in about 5 days. I almost killed the other until I took it to the party, and that killed the keg.

I made Cherry Bomb once, but I used melanoidin... don't like the bread flavor. I'm going to brew it again this fall but make it stronger.
