Combinations of Scotch Ales and Porters

I have now tasted two Scotch Porter commercial brews. Mad River has a Steelhead Scotch Porter (awesome) and last week I found a Flying Dog Road Dog Scottish Porter (also very good). I wonder if these are truly combinations of Scotch Ales and Porters. They are perfect after dinner or dessert types I would like to try to brew. I am set up for extract and have only made 55 gallons so far in my career.........

Anyway, both are sweet and malty like Porters with some caramel flavors of Scotch Ales. The hops are moderate but tasty. I read that Mad River brews with dark roasted malt, crystal malt and peated malt. An OG of 1.065, final of 1.016 and bitterness of 31 IBU.

Would any of you more experienced brewers venture a guess at a possible 5 gallon extract recipe for this?

Thank you
cameron

I take that back about the steelhead stotch porter. For some reason, it is not nearly as good as the first time I tasted it. Whats up with that? Is there such a difference between batches? Especially between commercial brews..... or was I buzzed when I first tasted the first?

I transferred the porter to a secondary today. It was a total of eight days. Was this too soon? I checked and the reading was 1.020 for two consecutive days. Now that I have it in the secondary, the air lock is not doing a thing. I guess I will wait a week and bottle. It really was tasty from the sample I took. Looking forward to the final product. What do you think?
