Don't kick me for this - it's not beer. But it's cool and may save $.

Try this at home: Next time you buy milk, buy a gallon. Pour off what you can into 2 used, clean 2-liter PET soda bottles. Carbonate lightly - very lightly - just so the bottle is slightly stiff to touch. Shake well and refrigerate. You do not want to over carbonate. That is, you do not want to taste the carbonation in a glass of milk.

Why? Because you get a longer shelf life. I've kept milk unspoiled in the fridge up to 90-days doing this.

Add some choc syrup and you got an egg cream!

I've been wanting to try one of those. I always liked the brownies. They preceeded today's YooHoo. Looks like an egg cream is pretty EZ 2 make.

I got 2 boys, 2 gallons of milk a week.  Ha ha.  I'll try it once I get a keg fridge.

Don't carbonate quite to the level you would an egg cream. See http://www.news.cornell.edu/Chronicle/9 … /milk.html for details of the Cornell University study. I use only half-a-squirt from a Fizz Giz into a 2L bottle. Just wish a 2L bottle had a handle like a milk bottle.
