Japanese brew
Hey i just started home brewing and i haven"t been able to find any recipes for a good japanese brew. I really love sapporo. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks
hiney, is there such a thing?
Just kiddin', I don't know of any...
Your probably right there isn't a specific japanese brew. Maybe if somebody knows what category that kind of brew would be in i'd have a better chance of finding a recipe.
I had a Kirin Ichiban a while back and I thought it just tasted like any other lager. It's been a while since I've had Sapporo so I can't recall. If what you're wanting to make is a quality lager then get some experience brewing ales while you think about how you're going to reach lagering temps and maintain them for the whole fermentation.
in the book "Clone Brews" by Szamataulski they have a recipe for a Sapporo Black Stout Draft, but thats not the style i think you are looking for
Yea, I can't think of anything that specifically makes them a "Japanese Beer" other than where they are made. But the recipe should look like any other light lager, probably utilizes super light malt and rice. Should be pretty easy to make with the exception of needing the capability to lager the beer.
