Late Freeze
Hey Guys,
A simple variation of Frozen Fox Ale. Instead of a pretty standard hop schedule (2oz 60min, 2oz 15-0min, 2oz DH) I am using this recipe to experiment with the difference in hop flavor from a totally late hop addition schedule. 1.5 oz every ten minutes starting as soon as I get back to boil from my late malt addition.
I have been using the extract late method to prevent over carmelization of my malt, and to keep my hop utilization a little closer to what I should get with full boils. Normally I add the second half of my extract at about 40 minutes, and start counting the last 20 minutes down from the point that boil is reached again. However, I don't want o interrupt my hop schedule for the experiment, so I will do my 2nd DME addition at 30 min, and start my hops as soon as boil is reached again.
Hi justin,
This might get delayed again due to ym temperature control problems... I don't want to brew with my glacier if it's going to ferment bad.
I'll probably just whip up batch of Cascade or something' pale over the weekend. I want to make more beer, but I don't want to waste my Galciers!
