Lawn Darts...an in experiment sugars. how very scientific.
vinyalwhl, is that fructose from an online store or something in your area? i would be interested in getting my hands on some.
you should get some and give it a shot, get another sugar processed through this great scientific machine we have going here.
I used the same process as stated in the original guidlines with the following extras. Set brewbelt to 72F for 4 days and the 65F for 10. I couldn't get Saaz so I used Tradition. And here's the skinny as quoted from Beersmith.
OG: 1.054
FG: 1.014
Color: 7.5 SRM
Bitterness: 35.6 IBU's
ABV: 5.21%
Not a shabby little brew.
interesting. i think i shall give it a whirl. with spring and summer coming on again here i am getting away from the darker, maltier beers and am looking for that perfect light bodied yet refreshing summer ale.
how long did this one take to peak? was it decent in a couple fo weeks or did it have to condition? you bottled, right?
I left in in the secondary for almost a month and then bottled. Tasted best after about the 3 week in the bottle.
It's almost summer again. How about another round of experiments????
I cracked open one of those brown sugar beers I made when we started this adventure. I was routing around the old beer fridge and found a couple bottles of this stuff.
Well it wasn't good. It had taken on a very phenolic bandaid taste to it. No banana as had been previously reported. This could be a yeast degredation issue.
Regardless, time was not kind to a beer with so much adjunct sugar in it.
I'd imagine it was nasty almost a year later. Not enough alcohol or alpha acids to preserve it.
So what's the agenda for this summer????
