Lemon Zest/Peel Question

I am about to start a brew of a Weiss/ wheat ale and I was looking to add a hint or taste of lemon to it for the summer. I was thinking of adding either lemon zest or dried lemon peel to my recipe to give it that taste I am looking for. I am still a novice to the brewing world and had a few concerns about it.
1. Is this even a good idea to add to my brew or will it just taste bad?
2. How much of the lemon flavor should I add to this brew?
3. When during the brew should I add the lemon flavoring?
4. Do I leave any lemon flavoring in the brew while it is fermenting?
5. Should I add anything along with the lemon flavoring?

Thank you for any suggestions you all may have.

Bottoms Up!

I've added both lemon and orange peels to my Saison before.  Basically, I use fresh lemons or oranges, peel them and break the peel into small pieces, and just throw this into the beer at about 10 min left in the boil.  I typically use the peel from 3-5 fruits for a 5 gal batch and I do not take the peels from the kettle into the fermenter.  This method leaves a nice hint of citrus in the finished beer.

Thanks 1n1m3g. That's pretty much what I'm looking for is just a little citrus flavor to my brew. I don't want it to be too overwhelming but I do want to know it's there. I also don't want to stray too far from my original recipe. I think just adding this at the end of the boil should be ok. I appreciate the response. Bottoms Up!
