May a pinch of mugwort

Hey Guys,

What do you guys think

1 bottle Grey Goose
5ml wormwood oil
1oz fresh wormwood
1/2g hyssop resin
5ml calamus oil
1/2g skullcap resin
1/2g hops resin
1g 85% blue lily alkaloid extract (mjb)
1 teaspoon sage
1/2 teaspoon anis
1/2 teaspoon fennel
1/4 oz high quality mj stems
small amount of caffeine
5g theanine
1 tablespoon honey

possibly some damania if I can find a easy inexpensive source
also may a pinch of mugwort

the addition of an acacia resin also sounded interesting but there are better uses for that treasure.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not 100% sure on a few of the doses some of the extracts may need to be halved, but this is the general idea.

All the Best!!!!!

Hey ramon,

Another thought.... leave out the honey. Sweeten if you want after it is finished. Honey is tricky stuff...just drop some or some sugar in a glass when you pour a shot. I've gotten used to wormwood and don't even sweeten the stuff...just slightly dilute it with H20 when I'm drinking the hard stuff.

Damia is easy to find...but not what everyone knocks it up to.

Don't use the resins and oils...just use the natural herbs...one once of wormwood per fifth of liquor is appropriate (I'm guessing this is what you're after since you called this Absinthe). Please excuse me for making such assumptions if this is not the case.

Leave out the caffeine and hops. They will only make this more bitter and nasty tasting.... the wormwood will wake you up...get your hops from a glass of beer.... yummy...plus you don't want to drink this special beveral all at once do you?

I would suggest letting it age at last a couple weeks...three month much better and then. Trying a few shots at a time. Also be sure to shake it on a regular basis.

You asked for suggestions...you got mine. I totally respect you for wanting to make a kick ass beverage.... hope this helps. (I'm drinking one of mine as I type this).

ramon,

I agree with Brujo...and I don't consider tinctures or macerations without secondary distillations to be absinthe.

All the same...go for it.... I would also urge you to consider using 151 or ever clear/PGA instead of Grey Goose.

Stems? Why not use the bud? (I know.... it’s a big sacrifice cause smoking is so desirable)...but my friend says stems just don't do you the same as bud does. My friend also prefers to get fresh herb that he knows doesn't have pesticides or other funk on it. Don't know if you know any indoor growers. But it sure can help.

Also let it sits for a while.

Good luck...keep us posted on how it goes.
