Muffin Man Blueberry Wheat

Well, heres a recipe that I threw together for my first non-ingredient kit brew.

7lbs Munton's Wheat Extract (LME)
8oz. Honey Malt grains
6 oz. crystal 60L grains
1 oz Hallertau hops (pellets) 60 minutes
1 oz Hallertau hops (pellets) 5 minutes
1 oz. dried orange peel steeped for 10 minutes, from minute 40-30
.5 lb blueberries steeped for 10 minutes from minute 30-20

nottingham yeast (dry)

And I threw another half pound of blueberries a day after a lot of the fermentation was complete, and plan to leave it in there.

I call it Muffin Man because the combination of the wheat and blueberries smelled exactly like a blueberry muffin, and gee golly I like blue berry muffins.

A note:  Using the crystal 60L adds a lot of color to the beer not normally found in wheats, so subbing it out for something that adds less color might be an idea.  Mine is pretty dark, and I'm kinda wishin it wasn't so.

Thx alex!

Just drank my first one.  And, while the beer is just a tad green, I am very happy with the outcome.  The color actually works great I feel after being in the secondary for a couple weeks... it came out as a ruby red.. really looks good.  The blueberry is apparent even with the small amount.. the carbonation really brought out the fruit flavor.

Definetely one I will brew again.
