My signature amber ale
I took this recipe from someone else, but I was unhappy with part of the grain bill and the majority of the hop bill, so I rewrote about 50% of it. So far this beer has won over at least 3 non-beer drinkers. It is a dark amber, somewhat malty, but not bitter.
10 gallon all grain recipe:
22# 2 row pale, 1# crystal 60L, 1# crystal 80L, 2# munich
2 oz chinook 12.1% AA @ 60, 2 oz cascade 7.3% AA% @ 15, 2 oz crystal 3.1% AA @ 5
Wyeast 1275 in one fermenter and 1056 in the other
Note: this might seem a little bitter since I used chinook, but it comes out well balanced. Definitely experiment with different yeast styles. I generally use British yeast strains. This was one of the few times I used American.
Strike temperature: 152F
OG = 1.054 (approximate)
