Oktoberfest Marzen

Any good suggestions on what grains to use for a "close to" traditional Oktoberfest?

We did an Octoberfest Style beer with ale yeast as a Fall Community Brew last year.  Here's the link to the thread.  There's a few recipes on the first page.  The recipe I followed is one I posted about 2/3 of the way down the bottom of the page.  Came out really good and I'm sure it would be great with a German lager yeast.   I ended up mashing at 154 instead of 158.

I have heard of using 100% munich malt in some recipes, I like using 50% munich, 25% pilsner and 25% vienna myself.

Not a bad idea, now is the right time to brew one, should be done lagering round septemberish.

Here is a display of my computer illiteracy- how do you guys post a link, then change the text like this? That is a cool trick and I need to know.

Its easy.  First copy the webpage you want to link to.  Then type your post and highlight the word(s) you want to be your link.  Then click "LINK" in the Post A Reply menu.

It'll look something like: "Here's the [ url]link to the thread".

In the first set of brackets put an " = " between l and ] and then paste the web address you previously copied so it looks like this:
"Here's the [ url=http://www.pastewebaddresshere]link to the thread."

Don't put spaces between the left bracket and the U in the first brackets.  I had to put it there so you could see what it looks like and wouldn't turn it into a link.

And that's it.  Hope that all makes sense...

"I like using 50% munich, 25% pilsner and 25% vienna myself."....sounds great. I will check out the other recipes ASAP.

Thanks guys!

Let me try a test run here linktest and we will see if I am an idiot!
