Poor Richards Ale (Extract)
Hi Everyone,
Have you brewed this before? I was thinking about making a dry-roasty-nutty brown ale, ala Brooklyn Brown, next, but I may go for a Poor Richard's instead! Does this turn out pretty sweet or pretty dry? I've had interpretations on the project from different breweries that were sweet or dry.
Cheers!!!
Hello,
I have not brewed it myself yet, but I think come Big Brew day I might. I did have some of a Ben Franklin tribute ale back a couple months ago. I guess it was his 300th birthday, and there was a big hoopla of brewing since he was a brewer himself. I don't think the recipe I had was this same one, but I remember really enjoying it. The one I had was very bold and very happy.
Hi zachary,
Yea that was probably a little different... Supposedly the guys at Michigan Brewing Co tried hard to stick as close to the recipe as they were willing. They went low on the corn, slightly higher on the molasses. It ended up sweet, but now overpoweringly sweet by any means. Very good!
