Porter?
When I was a kid, my dad would drink porter sometimes. I haven't seen it commercially available for a while.
Would Guinness be considered porter? If not, I wonder what the difference is?
There are some wonderful porters on the marketplace these days. Depending on where you are, availability may differ, but Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter is a great one, as is Summit's Great Northern Porter. Boulevard makes a wonderful Bully Porter, Bell's Porter is quite tasty, and Sierra Nevada's is quite hoppy but very good. I know there are some other greats that I am missing, but those are some of my personal favorites.
I have heard that Great Lakes Brewing makes the Edmund Fitzgerald Porter, which is considered by some to be the best porter in America
Bert Grant's Porter is likely worth checking out as well!
If you enjoy imports (Who doesn't?), I have heard great things about Okochim (from Poland) and I assume Fuller's is wonderful as well ![]()
Guinness is actually a Stout, in the Dry Irish category.
