recipe to use up some hops
I have some left over hops sitting in my freezer, and thought I might as well brew a batch using some of them, but I'm not sure exactly what to make. I've been wanting to do a steam style lager, so I think I might go with that, but not sure what the grain bill would be. Here's the hops I have:
1.5 oz tradition 4.0 AA
.5 oz chinook 11.4 AA
1 oz Hallertau 3.6 AA
.5 oz kent goldings 5.9 AA
Can anyone help me work up a recipe to use some of these up?
Just in general, how about a Pale Ale. Use the Chinook and Golding in your bittering hop schedule, add either the Hallertau as finishing and dry hop on the Tradition or switch the Tradition and Hallertau around. To do it exact I'd need a grain bill but this page has some online recipe makers and a link to an excel sheet (haven't tried that one yet).

well here's what I've come up with....
Briess 2-Row Brewer's Malt 8lbs oz
Briess 2 Row Caramel 60 1 lbs, 0 oz
Gambrinus Honey Malt 0 lbs, 8 oz
Aromatic 0 lbs, 4 oz
Chinook Pellets
.5 oz @ 60 mins
Hallertau Pellets, German
1 oz @ 15 mins
Kent Goldings, UK Pellets
.5 oz @ 5 mins
White Labs San Fran Lager
any suggestions on changes or do you think this would be good?
I plugged it in Beersmith software and everything looks to style for pale ale except a tad low on IBU's maybe push the Hallertau to 30 minutes and that should give you ~ 32 IBUs. I'm not knowledgeable enough on the malts to know what sort of taste that will "land on". Also, what about using Wyeast 1056? It's easier to work with than a lager yeast and no aging required (just my 2 cents). Are you going to dry hop it with the "tradition" hops? I'll bet it's a nice lawnmower beer when you done!
