Ruby Ale

My bad. I should have known that. I've only been brewing for 3 months but I've been drinking beer for 15-20 years.
Well it is not what I was planning on brewing but I have to make a brew for my girlfriend once in a while. I usually end up brewing what I like and she does not like. Like the IPA and Stout that I have on tap right now that she will not drink. Which works out okay for me because then she is not drinking my beer. But everyone else seems to drink it up just fine. I'll let you know in a few weeks how it turns out. I am hoping to have both the Raspberry and the Irish Ale ready for St Patty's. I just hope my Stout holds up that long because my IPA is almost gone.

And yes it is an extract kit. I was planning on crafting a partial extract recipe but the guy at the supply place said the easiest would be to brew one of thier kits first and add to it however I want. It is a start and next time I will use a more detailed recipe. Just brewing and learning and drinking for now.

Another buckeye, cool.
I'm up in Springfield. Howdy.
cool

As far as kits go, brewers best has an IPA kit that is really good.
As soon as the LBS restocks I'm going to get a couple, one for now and one for down the road.

Good to meet ya Marv. I'm in Cincy

I'm actually trying to get away from buying my LHBS kits. I brewed several that had an off kind of sweetness to them.  They were not too bad but like the Belgian White was a lot better if you threw an orange into the glass to cut the sweetness.  And I had a German Dunkel that I would thow a lime in the glass and it tasted better. I just brewed an IPA partial grain recipe that turned out perfect, almost too flavorful. I may have been kegging those kits too soon also and not letting it condition enough. I am always in a hurry to drink what I brew. I go through quite a bit of beer around my house.

Nah, I think your right. To sweet.

The light ale kit was awful. I won't be doing it again.
The pale was alright, I'm working on my own recipe for one, and a
clone of the sierra Nevada pale, which I'm having one now.
But the IPA, I'm waiting for the lbs to restock.
I liked it, and will be doing it again, for now anyway, working on a recipe for and IPA of my own as well.
Cincy, cool your a little over an hour away.
Dayton has a brew club that meets once a month.
I wish they didn't meet on Friday nights  . I work second shift and can't make it.
I did make the Christmas party though, it was a pretty good time.
Membership is like $20 a year, maybe less can't remember.

Here is a link.

A couple of us up this way have been talking about a pub craw this spring, starting in Dayton and ending in Cincy.

Something about the most arrogant pub having many ales on tap.

Good to have another buckeye on the board.

Cheers.

There is a bar in northern Kentucky, on the Ohio river, The Beer Cellar, that has a lot of beers on tap. I go to cigar tastings at a party supply place, The Party Source, that has a lot of defferent beers in bottle as well as on tap. You can pick up a growler and fill up whatever they have on tap to go. They have a patio outside for the cigar tastings and you can drink while you smoke and if the weather is bad they have it at the Beer Cellar. Thier cigar tastings are on Tuesday nights though. But that Beer Cellar is pretty happening on the weekends in the summer. If you do get in town let me know. I never need an excuse to get out and drink a few beers.

I've heard of that place before.
Thats one of the places on the list if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks for the heads up.

Also I think there are only 2 brew pubs in Cincy, Rock Bottom and Barrel House. And there is a Hofbrauhaus in Northern KY that has awesome beer. And very big beers as well.

What does all of this have to do with the original topic? Just curious.

Research and Development to test many raspberry ales for comparison.
