Smoked Mild
Hey All,
For my next brew I am planning to make Smoked Mild. The grain bill for this will be:
3 kg Mild Malt
1 kg Rauchmalz
In addition I have the following on hand:
5 kg MO Pale Ale Malt
1 kg Flaked Barley
1 kg Aromatic Malt
.5 kg Munich Malt
.5 kg Special B Malt
.5 kg Crystal Malt
.4 kg Black Malt
.3 kg Chocolate Malt
How does the above grain bill look ?
Can you suggest any changes to this ?
As for hops I am looking for this beer to empahis the malt and will therefore only be using hops for bittering.
I will be using either Dried Nottingham Yeast or Dried Safale S-04
hi colby,
Having also posted this on another (green) brewing forum this recipe has now developed into :
3 kg Mild Malt
1 kg Rauchmalz
200g Special B
200g Crystal
100g Aromatic
50g Black malt
50g Chocolate Malt
50g Fuggles Hops
S-04 Yeast
Enjoy!!!!
Looks interesting will be a nice smoky porter style. The s-04 is a fine yeast i use it for all my non-lagers. It is very high attenuation though so keep that in mind when setting your mash temp
Thanks for Reply!!!
