Spent Grains
I am looking for some ideas to use my spent grains. The guy that runs my brew shop told me he mixes his grains with some peanut butter and makes dog treats out of them. I thought about making some oatmeal type cookies out of them. I was wondering what others use them for since most of the time they just go down the garbage disposal for me.

If you know anyone with horses or chickens, they love 'em, & you could get free pony rides or eggs.
most of the brewers here in town donate their grains to pig farmers. There is also someone in town on Craigslist that will pick up your grains and do who knows what with them. If you don't have the time/ space to compost I would check on CL and see if anyone already has a post there if not create a post and see if you get any bites.

I've seen recipes for bread and pizza dough made from spent brewing grain. And the dog treats are supposed to be good, at least if you're a dog. I keep saying I'm gonna make bread one of these days after brewing, but I haven't yet.
Too damn hot to make bread, almost too hot to brew.

Hey guys, I know there are other threads for this, but this is the most recent so I figured I'd post here. I found tons of recipes for bread, cookies, dog treats, and even veggie burger patties (perfect for me since I'm a vegetarian). I'm only wondering if I can use my current batch of grains for any of these uses because I'm using rice hulls in my mash. I've never brewed with them and don't know what happens to them in the mash. Do they stay sharp and brittle?
They make pretty good mulch/ compost, just be careful, they smell like death when they rot... didn't make the neighbors too happy XD
