Strawberry Blonde
Definately no flavor worries then.

LOL, at first I wasn't sure if you were talking about beer pancakes or blueberry pancakes. I have decided that it was blueberry pancakes, but beer pancake sound pretty good. I haven't had them in years. - Robar
Yeah....just Blueberry not beer.....I was just thinking about what you could do with the leftover 2 lbs......must of been hungary for breakfast
Any thoughts on sub-ing Black Raspberries for strawberries? I've still got a frozen 3# bag left over from the Wild Berry Pale ale.

Sound great. This base beer will work well with any of these berry fruits.
I just want to mention again that the base beer is pretty darned good all by it's self ![]()
I brewed partial mash extract version of this recipe today. It got pretty tweaked by the end, but it smells great.
Calling it "Berry Blonde - Gone Wild" , Wild blackberries & black raspberries instead of strawberries. Did a 5-1/2 gal. batch & used Briess Light & Wheat (65/35). I guess I must have blown the mash, cause I ended up with an OG of 1.042 & should have been 1.055. So, I added 1-1/2# of corn sugar to get to 1.056. I figured that if I had to add something it should lighted the brew, since the Briess Light is darker than Pils or UltraLight lME.
I'm going to do the secondary with 2-1/2# of berries, but this time I'm planning on pasteurizing, then do a puree and strain so I don't have to mess with all the berry bits when I rack & bottle.
And, later I think I'm going to brew this one without any berries.
Okay
Hopefully having my PH problems under control with the use a product called five-two or 5.2 I brewed this again on 9/4 It has been bubbling away in the fermenter at 68* for about 40 hours now. My OG was a bit short of gold as well at about 1.048 -1.049 I didn't add anything to make up for the undershot and am not going to sweat it. I will be a bit lower on alcohol content, but the taste should still be there.
Robar, sounds good to me.
Good luck with the continued use of the pH 5.2 stabilixer.
I may be moving in a year or so, and I know the place I am going to has horrible water. I am already saving my pennies for a carbon water filteration system so I can minimize my down time.
Well I just racked the blond over to the secondary (Keg) after 13 days in the primary. I brewed a new batch of the blonde today and needed the prior batch to vacate the yeast cake so I could reuse it. She is going off like a machine gun down there tonight. I really have a live ferment going this time.
The batch I just racked is going to be a blackberry blonde. I have the feeling that it should be pretty good. The five-two seems to be the ticket with my PH problem. I am having a bit of problem with efficientcy and I don't know if it is water related or not. As far as the earlier issues making the beer so bad you couldn't even soldier your way through it, problem solved!
Brewchez, anytime you're ready to toss me another recipe or two, I'm game! I like to brew and amazingly enough I like to drink brew too. Its a win/win situation. ![]()
