Suggestion Please!
What do you think is the best wine to prepare for Christmas and New Years Eve? Do you have any suggestions?

Well if you are making the wine you are well past the date to have it ready for this year, unless you're thinking a year from now.
I've only made one batch of wine, fairly undrinkable after a month of fermentation and a month in the bottles. It didn't taste very good until at least the 4 month mark and I would only put it at table wine status at 6 months. Now after 9 months it is tasting quite good, good enough to actually give to friends.

You're right. I guess I don't have enough time anymore. I'm planning to buy a wine for Christmas. What do you think is the best brand of wine I need to buy?
How about a 1787 Chateau Lafite?
I'd say it depends on what you're eating, if you're buying to go with dinner. Otherwise you can just buy whatever style you like. I'm trying to get to like white wines, but I still tend to go with the reds for everything. Nothing like a good Shiraz for me.

Well if your going with a white wine I have two unusual suggestions, Cyser from White Winter winery in Iron River WI or if your really bold mabye a Retsina since its flavored with pine tree resin.
My Aunt loved Poule Foucey.. it to her was wonderful and we got her five bottles. Its a dry wine, and has a hint of buitterness. I didnt like it.
I usually give a nice Cognac or brandy for after dinner or to go with dinner,Zinfindel or old fashioned Chianti in those unique bottles. Then a small amount of matching cheese and crackers and some fruit in a basket. Its often inexpensive and everyone enjoys without the overheaviness.
Just my two cents.
I have slowly switched to non alcoholic sparkling juices so that the kids can enjoy it as well.
I gave a bottle of Asti, and Korbel to my daughter for winning a silver in JR. Olympicss a few years ago. She just popped the cork after three years and it was better than when I got fresh bottled.
