Is this guy nuts?
I found this recipe in a book... now the question is with the corn sugar I read a recipe that called for the following:
4.87 lbs. American 6-row Pale
0.07 lbs. American Victory
0.06 lbs. American Caramel 10°L
0.04 lbs. American Caramel 20°L
1.08 lbs. Corn Sugar
0.2 oz. Warrior (Pellets, 16.00 %AA)
0.50 oz. Glacier (Pellets, 5.50 %AA)
Yeast : WYeast 2035 American Lager
to me it seems that 1.08lbs is quite a bit. Would this be added during the boiling of the Wort? My knowledge seems to tell me the Corn Sugar is used for priming so how and when would this be added to the mix (other than for priming)
The whole recipe seems a bit odd, at least in terms of the amounts of grains. I don't know that I have ever seen a recipe calling for 0.04 lbs of grain before. You can add corn sugar to your boil, which will provide more fermentable sugars for the yeast. This typically will add more alcohol and lighten your beer. So you won't have much body in the beer.
i read through all my books and I don't think I have seen any recipes like that before either. I think he may have ment oz and some how got lbs. huh. any way.
This looks like an odd scaled recipe. 2 gallons maybe?
This seems very odd. I have never found any such recipe.and whats the work of corn there ??
I guess it's just a try-out recipe. It's a little bit weird for me. I think of following that recipe to find out what's the outcome.
